Our R&D is in close cooperation with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) of NASA and CALTECH (California Institute of Technology).
We commercialize our technologies with the support and cooperation of the Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) of CALTECH.
Placidus’s novel piezoelectric drilling and hammering method is based on the innovative concepts and mechanisms for planetary explorations undertaken by Dr. Yoseph Bar Cohen, Senior Research Scientist Group Supervisor, Advanced Technologies and NDEAA Lab, Jet Propulsion Laboratories.
Dr. Bar Cohen's pioneering discoveries (http://ndeaa.jpl.nasa.gov/nasa-nde/usdc/usdc.htm) for drilling and extracting soil samples from the Moon, Mars, Venus and bodies floating in outer space, are now coming to Earth through the Placid revolution.

NASA's ultra-sonic drill, USDC was selected by R&D Magazine (Sept. 2000 p. 135) as one of the 100 most innovative instruments for the year 2000. http://ndeaa.jpl.nasa.gov/nasa-nde/nde-aa-l/PressRelease/RandDSonicDrill.pdf
